“I urge you to meditate on these visions. I believe Aang’s spirit must be trying to tell you something.”
Korra adds to her list of enemies as she battles Councilmen Tarrlok in an epic conclusion to this week’s episode entitled, “When Extremes Meet.” There are many wonderful moments from this episode, so it’s difficult to know where to begin. I suppose the formation of the new “Team Avatar” will be a hot topic for fans of the previous series. It’s too bad that the new team didn’t last more than one episode, but they put up a good fight. I thought the writers did a nice job of hinting at Korra’s affections for Mako, without making it the focus of the episode. Korra’s shock at hearing Tenzin’s daughter spill the beans about her desires was hilarious. Like Avatar: The Last Airbender, the show balances elements of drama and comedy well. As with previous episodes this season, the rigid dichotomy between nature and technology continues to play a role in Korra’s adventures. Unlike Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph, this version of Team Avatar needs a motorized mode of transportation in a concrete jungle like Republic City. I hope this isn’t the last time we’ll see the group in action.
The next significant development in this episode was revealed to us during the conversation between Tenzin and Korra, on their way home from the swearing in of the new Police Chief. According to Tenzin, Korra’s hallucinations could be Aang’s spirit attempting to communicate with her. Do any of you think Korra will be able to quiet her mind in order to contact the spirit world? I also wonder how long it will take for Korra to enter into the Avatar state? I love Korra’s aggressiveness and determination, but I think it clouds her judgment, causing her to make rash decisions without thinking things through. The scene with her looking out over the water at Aang’s statue was haunting. Even with her ferocity as a warrior, the young Avatar still has much to learn.
Korra’s exciting battle at the conclusion of the episode was one of the best action sequences I’ve seen this season. There’s no doubting that Korra is a bad ass, yet her lack of respect for her opponents keeps getting her into trouble. When Aang fought Fire Lord Ozai, he never underestimated him. Korra desperately needs to learn that mindset if she ever hopes to defeat Amon. Like many of you, I wanted to see Korra wipe the smirk off of Tarrlok’s stupid face, but I have to admit that it was cool watching him use his blood bending abilities. It appears that Katara forgot to teach Korra that skill. I thought this episode was the best in the series so far, and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. I would also love to know what your theories are on where this season is going. Where is Tarrlok taking Korra, and what do you think about the flashbacks we saw in this episode? Aang looked upset, like someone he knew was guilty was getting off free. What do these visions mean?

Okay, nice review, but there are 3 things wrong/missing in my opinion:
1. Am i the only person who noticed Asami glare at Korra when she and Mako where in the back-seat together? she was PISSED! She definately does not trust Korra and that will easily come out later.
2. Aang wasn"t upset. He, like Toph and the other people was being bloodbent (or bloodbended whichever is correct). tarrlock is seriously bada$$
3. Korra is going to probably be in solitary confinement wherever Tarrlock is taking her, so that will be when she reflects and talks to Aang (my persoonal prediction).
Thanks and overall solid review. nice work.
it not that she's pissed , you don't understand girls , she was keeping an eye on them while Korra is the type that confronts people about stuff , Asami is being clever , she watching them
I believe Korra is going to contact Aana in the next episode I just know it…
Aang, I mean Aang, Sorry :/
I completely agree with you best episode so far and am guessing next episode is going to be better am also predicting a flash back episode , and that little shit is going to get what is coming to him , AVATAR STATE NEXT EPISODE !!!
The real question is… Had Korra not been bloodbent, what would she have done to the councilman? I agree that she does not think things through. Additionally we have yet to see Korra metal bend, bloodbend, or manifest lighting. I think this is related to her spiritual block. As far as where Korra will be taken, I know a lot of people tired of RepCity. I hope to see Ba Sing Se or The Boiling Rock or even an abandoned Air Temple! As well as Tezin’s siblings!
**Lightening
Um avatars cant do the sub elements sorry
Hmmm… Interesting… They can’t or choose not to?
Seeing Councilmen Tarrlok bloodbend at the end of the episode as well as the flashback of the trial of Yakone (the person who threatened Republic City and was dealt with by Aang) where he bloodbends on Toph, Aang and Sokka leads me to believe that Tarrlok maybe related to Yakone.
The other thing that seemed weird to me was how much Tarrlok was becoming the very thing Amon was fighting against: a bender who's oppressing the non-benders through the misuse of his power. Perhaps through a twist at the end of the first season we'll learn that Tarrlok is really Amon!
Yeah… I considered that before his reaction to being called “Amon” by Korra. Also assuming Amon’s firebender story is true it doesnt fit. Anything is still possible though. MDM and BK certainly know what their doing and I wouldn’t be surprised by anything
Um I dont believe that Tarrlok is Amon there voices are different, Amon's voice is done by Steve Blum a well known voice actor for doing mostly Japanese Anime, also Amon metioned that his face had been burned before so if Tarrlok is Amon then why is his face not burned?
Since when can waterbenders are able to bloodbend when there are no full moons ???
