Great episode and a great review.
Jenna Bush don't spoil the whole thing! Let people underestimate Littlefinger…:p
The Red Lady has magic! Where's Gandalf when you need him?
Oh and Roth, thank you for clarifying that "Smoke Monster" mystery, I've been dying to know were it came from
Coming up next on Game of Thrones: Arya meets the Godfather!!!
Fringe 4×18 and 4×19 and vampire diaries review????? i.i I need… now… noww… -_-
I love your reviews and recaps. I wish it was longer though and uncut. Are you guys ever going to release an uncut version?
Arya is bar none my favorite too. She hasn't made any big threats like Daenerys but I always feel like she's a force to be reckoned with, and she doesn't even have dragons. I thought I heard her say Sansa when she was listing the names in the earlier episode. Does that mean she also blames her sister?
Though I'm glad Daenerys is out of the wasteland and given more to do. BTW has she found out a way to feed her dragon. I might have missed it, because I don't know if dragons can survive that long without eating.
Can't wait for next week episode and your reviews! Great job guys.
Ha! There's my friend Fran standing behind Arya in that photo.
Roth, Jenna, great review!
Quote of the week #1: “Horde?”
Quote of the week #2: “She may yet survive us all.”
Great commentary!
This was probably my favorite episode so far, minus the fart joke in the beginning. The Joffrey/Hookers scene irritated me at first. This show has a lot of material to cover, and showing yet another example of how malicious Joffrey is seemed redundant. But thinking it over, it sort of went with the whole torture theme going on this week. I'm glad you two mentioned the Cat/Littlefinger scene. I thought it was powerful, and I don't think the actress that plays Catelyn gets enough credit sometimes since Catelyn isn't exactly a fan favorite. Arya doing her first kill-list run through was also really well done.
Also glad that Davos got a bit more exposure this week. He's one of my favorite character's from the books!
Player of the week: I can't pick Tyrion every week, so Danaerys. Like you guys said, she had her back against the wall and she threw the hail mary.
Pawn of the week: Lancel. This kid needs a back-bone, and maybe a jawline.
Play of the week: The pussy-monster (wish I could take credit for this).
Arya's story is also my favorite in this season/book. I can't wait to see her interactions with Weese and Jaqen. I'm also excited to see more of Brienne and Catelyn.
Great review guys. Thanks!
I don't think Weese will be in the show.
I'm not happy about the new actor of The Mountain. Not happy at all
But the rest of this episode BLEW ME UH-WAY! Perhaps the best on the show so far.
Don't underestimate the cast and crew SpyengoEen, they may suprise you yet, just like this episode
Joffrey is starting to become one of my favorite characters in the show. Yes, he's evil and a douche, but there's something about how evil and cruel he is that has me glued to to my seat watching his every move to see what messed up thing he'll do or say next. Great character study on just how bad the Mad King use to be.
Great review ladies!!
Joffrey is one of my most hated characters in television and movies. That means the actor and the writers are doing a great job.
Dennis
Personally the Starks have puzzled me as characters.I did not expect Robb to be such a great general.I did not expect Sansa to become a strong survivor and Arya to be able to overcome such great difficulties!!I am most curious about what the interaction between Arya and Tywin Lannister!!
I think Tyrion is omniscient he seems to know everything that is happening in the 7 kingdoms. This week he knew that Catelyn Stak was at Renly Baratheon camp, by him sending Petyr Baelish with Ned Starks bones to greet her. Last week he seemd to know that Theon Greyjoy was back on the Iron Islands at the Pyke instead of in Rob Straks army, when he planned on wedding princess Maracella off to him. Now I like the details to make sense how does he have this information? Well the veiwer can see from the show, but he has absolutely no way of knowing this. The war would be over if the Lannisters captured Catelyn Stark oh but she is under Renly's protection his 100k army currently, come on now she had to travel the Kings road to get there first.. The first season followed the book chapter to chapter this season is adding bits and jumping around and leaving many questions like this.
I wish we had more Sansa scenes. She is a little dove, stuck in a den of lions and I would like to see more of how she's handling herself. Don't get me wrong, I really really love Arya, Daenerys and Jon (they are the best characters in the show IMHO) but she is surrounded 24/7 with her enemies and people need to give her more credit than all the internet hate that she's getting.
Beating the whore was too much for me, they could have shown Joffrey saying that he'll hurt her and then closing the door behind him and spare that from us.
The shadow birth was epic. The smoke monster origin joke was hilarious. Roth, you should do a T-shirt with that
Arya + Tywin = Awesome.
All in all, the show is getting better each week and the review was great.
By the way, did you notice that Harrenhal didn't move in the intro? All the different places in the intro map used to move with cogwheels, like a huge clock mechanism (most of it under each castle/town) with a strong vibe of steampunk, except for Harrenhal. I guess they wanted to show that this castle is ruined and cursed and that's why the castle doesn't look alive anymore, her hidden cogwheels stopped moving many years ago (probably right after Aegon the Conqueror and his dragons came and burned down the place, melting the towers like candles).
I didn't notice that, was that for episode 4 for 5? I just posted our review for episode 5.
Dennis
It's for episode 4. I haven't watched episode 5 yet because It's airing here four days later (and the waiting for both the episode and your review afterwards isn't easy, at all
).
One more thing that I like in the intro is that this world is an inverted globe, the world is on the inside of the sphere (you can see it when the "camera" moves from Westeros to Essos) and the sun is in it's core. Very unique and new. My favorite tv intro by far.
lol.
