“Revenge” was an excellent way to conclude the season, featuring some wonderful fights and great dialogue, making this the best season of Clone Wars yet.  Firstly, I want to praise the writers for their daringness to explore new mythologies within the Star Wars Universe.  The opening scenes with Mother Talzin ripping away Darth Maul’s haunted past with her bare hands was both frightening, and beautiful.  The exploration into the mythology of the Nightsisters was one of my favorite aspects of this season.  Did any of you think that Maul’s transformation was reminiscent of Darth Vader’s in Revenge of the Sith?  Vader’s procedure wasn’t as magical, but both men were in excruciating pain.

The last two episodes featured some great voice acting.  Sam Witwer (Being Human, Battlestar Galactica) did an amazing job portraying the psychotic nature of Maul, only then to be “cured” by Mother Talzin, and become the calmer version of the Sith Lord that we saw in Phantom Menace.  Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption, Justice League) gives a memorable performance as well, with his booming voice giving weight to the formidable Savage Opress.

The season couldn’t have ended better, and I’m thrilled that Maul and Opress will be around for a little bit longer.  I hope we don’t have to wait until the end of season 5 to see them again.  Another striking moment in “Revenge” was watching Obi-Wan and Asajj Ventress team up to fight the Sith brothers.  There was some great banter between the two comrades, like Obi-Wan saying, “Since when did you become the good guy,” and “Red isn’t really my color.”  I know many of you, myself included, thought that one of these characters (Ventress, Savage, Maul) was going to die, but it seems like the team at Lucas Animation has more in store for us in the Fall.  What did you think of this fantastic finale?  Were you underwhelmed, or was it everything you hoped it would be.  Lastly, what do you think we’ll see in the upcoming season?  I can’t wait to find out!  May the Force be with you all.
