I grew up the in West Indies and Tintin books were big in the 70s. I have read almost every one. I look forward to seeing the movie and introducing my son to this great character.
Asterix and Obelix books were also hugely popular (French characters). Looking forward to seeing a movie about them in the future. It's a pity American children are not familiar with them and Tintin.
Really enjoyed this movie for all the reasons your guys said. I also thought the 3D was extremely well done. Best 3D since Avatar, felt like it added to the film and didn't distract from it. I'd give Tin Tin an B+
