As usual, great review! I agree with u guys Sam did a good job playing Sam/tommy. For me I did not see anything wrong with the Eric bill interaction; I don’t think Eric’s way of responding made him less masculine. I loved the lovemaking in the woods; however, I expected something Wilder. Hope we have that next time. Just like u guys I am happy Jason did not become a werepanther. I love the witch storyline and I must admit I am much on a dilemma as regards which side to support; as much as I want the witch to get her revenge, I don’t want Eric, Pam and Jessica to get hurt. Oh and I really feel like stabbing Tommy in the eye.
Thanks! Love the last line on this ! I'd like to see a nice combination of Eric the nice guy and Eric The Viking Vampire God ! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Great reviews. I agree with everything you guys said. My favorite part of this episode was not E/S/B but I loved the witches part. I agree with you that I am with the witches at this point. I don't blame Antonia for being pissed.
I agree with you on the Eric part. I also did not feel the connection between the two of them in the woods. It just didn't do it for me. I feel sorry for Bill, but he did lie and also when Sookie came back he had his fun with others. I also loved the doll baby/ghost story. I am looking forward to seeing more on this. Thanks for a great review.
Thank you! Yeah, I'm hoping that we may see some more from that storyline — but in general I am loving this season! Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Awesome review, ladies. My thoughts:
It suddenly struck me that MemoryLossEric is Angelus w/a soul. Except pussier. (HOW THAT'S POSSIBLE IDEK). I *really* cared about E/S last season, it was hot. I wanted it. That sex scene was LAMESAUCE. I've never seen a ball dropped so badly in my whole..life. The best part of it was Bill and his '1000 mile stare of longing'.. it made me lol cuz I kept picturing the Dawson crying .gif. BRING BACK ANGELUS..er.. the 'REAL' Eric. I've had enough of this castrated catastrophe. Seriously. What's the timeline, here?? He'll go to the True Death having known 'real love' ? GIMMIE A BREAK. *HANDS* He didn't even KNOW her a week ago! I swear, it's like bad fanfiction. I R disappoint.
I missed the entire thing Arlene said to Sam, cuz I spent the whole scene thinking: "Wtf? Is that an Armadillo??"
Jason and Jessica? I love them. I feel like a cheating whore for saying so, but I do.
Finally, Pam wins, yet again. "King Bill is a self loathing, whore hungry, pompous little dork". Even with her face melting off, she's still my favourite. <3
Despite the fact that they decided to cannonball my Eric/Sookie ship, I super enjoyed this episode. See you ladies next week!!
Dude — I LOVE this comment — I am seriously smiling from ear to ear and laughing out loud. Thank you! And yes, it is like Angelus! Thank you again! Looking forward to your thoughts this week!
I loved last nights episode but not for reasons even I would have expected. I just loved seeing Jason and Sookie back together and the whole were-panther thing had me in stitches. "Stop I'm a police officer and a were-panther!" – priceless. Sam/Tommy brilliant, Jason/Jessica sweet and hot, all the story-lines seemed to step up but of course the Sooric story-line is hands down the most interesting. What's even more interesting is as cute as amnesiac Eric is, at this point I too am missing his bad ass side, which is a genius character reset and half move by the writers. I'm not worried because I know this is True Blood – everything is about to get really twisted. Remember Mary-Anne's fun for all orgie parties and the beatific fairy land. Anything too good to be true on True Blood is.
A perfect cuddly viking vampire god, I think not. Ya Sooric can look back at the night they made love on Bambie's front lawn but the shit is going to hit the fan for this ill -fated couple (no boos please – all couples on True blood are ill-fated). While we can all rejoice at the culmination of Sooric, I think this episode was actually filler for the couple, and shower scene or no with the inevitable first hook-up out of the way, the writers can now royally f with us. Let the games begin!
I liked the Jason/Sookie moments as well — he continues to be one of my favorite characters. "Bambies front lawn" lol…shower-scene!!! I agree that things are definitely about to get twisted — looking forward to it ! Really like the way all of this has been set up. Thanks for commenting — looking forward to your thoughts next week!
great review, however i am bill woman and obviously you two are not. maybe you could have a third person occasionally give bill some strokes. his acting is brilliant, his story arcs are amazing, considering from the 1st season until now-and i feel really left out in your reviews. there are a silent bunch of us who adore bill and sookie. so maybe you could find someone like minded and occasionally use them in your fabulous videos. i love that you cover everything. btw "sweat on the wall"
was a fabulous line of thought.
Thanks! I think we like both the characters — but sure I would be open to that idea. Not sure when exactly someone would be able to come on (we already have trouble keeping the videos down to a reasonable length lol) but perhaps as something special .
one of the better ep this season (and I'm not just saying that because Sookie finally got her some Eric!) . Bill: It's not that I don't believe he loves Sookie, but Bill also spared Eric because he knows if he killed him there would be NO CHANCE for him and Sookie to ever get back together. Lafayette is gonna kick some major Marnie ass , mark my words! Tara… I really don't care. Jason is always fun to watch and I admire his strength (and love for Hoyt), in walking away from Jess (even though I know it won't last) Finally, Sam brother, Tommy …. I hope he dies a TRULY painful death . The guy is just a major pain in d ass! I mean , everybody probably knows or is related to someone like Tommy, but we also know you've got to cut that dead weight loose. I predict Sam killing Tommy and inheriting the ability to skinwalk. BRING IT ON!
I'm curious to know how Marnie / Antonia will become the villain of the season. The other villains were a threat to everyone, but she only threatens the vampires, with every reason, since she was incarcerated, tortured and raped by them. At the moment she is the victim. But clues were left that she will be dangerous, Sookie's grandmother sent her running from Marnie and Jesus' grandfather said they were seeking protection against wrong thing, implying that they need to defend themselves against the witch.
@Brazillian Fan re: Marnie/Antonia threat – I think it may have something to do with powerful creatures such as vampires losing their free will. She can not only destroy them, or shall I say make them destroy themselves, but also she can manipulate them to do her bidding. And as they say absolute power corrupts absolutely.
You guys are right about unnecessarily emasculating Eric. Even before he was a vampire he was a viking warrior not this timid ass bitch. Obviously team vampire will win in the battle with the witches but it will be interesting to see how the writers justify this.
You guys are also right abut the lack of detail re: the werewolf world. There is a strict ranking system in their world, the Alpha is supposed to be the most physically powerful and also looking one directly in the eye is considered a challenge. (Read the fantastic Mercy Thompson book series for how it should be done).
While I did enjoy the episode itself, I'm really hating this new Eric. When did True Blood turn into Twilight?! This new Eric is a total turn off . I was trying to be patient and wait for him to develop some type of backbone, but it's ridiculous now.
1. A guy can be both STRONG and SENSITIVE (hello! Alcide!) Why are they portraying Eric like a an overgrown child who lost his mommy (not appealing ) . Did he forget his ENTIRE personality too? Even when he was just a Viking, the man was a WARRIOR ! he loved Women and Drinking and Life! IT'S THE WHOLE REASON HE WAS CHOSEN by Godfrey in the first place!
This is my only real beef with this episode (the whole on-going Tara turning gay thing is for another day, sheesh)
If this is the route there taking , maybe it might have been for the best if they stuck with the source material, for inspiration.
It's mind-blowing that this great kick-ass season started with the lamest season premiere ever! Had it not been for Roth that said the second episode would be much better I would have stopped watching it and missing all the fun. So thanks for that and for the great review
I have never seen Eric as a warrior. Looking at subtler character nuances, if one goes back in episodes and seasons and does a character study, you will find that Eric is really a lover not a fighter.
He was born a viking, yes, and destined to be a warrior king but as we saw he preferred spending his afternoon in the maid's bosom rather than following his father around. Everything he does, offering to forfeit, his life more than a few times, he does for love. He's actually a pretty emotional guy who has spent a 1000 years building a lot of armor to survive. Even after 900 years Godric still had to remind him about dominating his emotions. It was a good choice for him I think to be a maker of someone a little more naturally hard-edged like Pam. I think that may be a reason he chose her.
This past episode, I feel in general, the writing was poor for the character but the character development over all, I feel is true. This is for TV Eric; the book Eric may be different but from what I've seen the story arc here rises above the script's weaker points.
