Looking good. Can't wait for its return. I wonder where the series is going to in regards to the story. Will it deviate from the one taken by the Kirk Douglas version?
I think you can bet on that. As Steven said on the panel, in the Kirk Douglas version Spartacus was cruzified, which didn't really happen according to history books. And Batiatus wasn't killed before the slave uprising, like he was in Blood and Sand. So there will be more differences to be expected in this version.
The Kubric movie is not close to the historical facts.I mean Crixus is not even shown there. Its a gt movie but spartacus series of 2004 and of course blood and sand are much closer to the historical facts. The cruelty, the sex the violence thta is shown are real facts of that period.Let me give you an example:Julius Caesar the brillient roman general slayed thousands of germans.A liitle before the Vercingetorix revolt against romans a huge german tribe of 400.000german warriors, women, children crossed Rhine to settle in Gaul.Caesar took his 40-50.000 well trained troops and went against them. You can imagine that this were Wehrmacht of this era.The germans could not stand and went back to Germania.Instead he ordered to be built a huge wooden bridge at Rhine. They crossed and for many days they were slaying and slaying and slaying.Frome the 400.000 men, women, children there were 0 survivors. So the romans had their civilisation but but still they were not less savage or blood thirsty.
But Julius Caesar was a tyrant and because of such actions he was despised and eventually murdered by members of the senate.
Is the 2004 version of Spartacus worth watching?
I had watched it before Blood and Sand and I liked it very much.Of course Blood and Sand sets other standards but in my opinion it's definately worth watching
Looks good – the guy at about 1:21 looks like Gannicus. Has he been cast in Spartacus: Vengeance?
Fortunately the answer to your question is a big YEEEEEEES!!!!!!
