It's not a reboot, but really a prequel to Carpenter's original. The events in the film will take place in the Norwegian base that MacReady visited during the film. So, we find out what happened after they dig up the Thing and how it got loose in the base.
So the prequel to The Thing is called The Thing, too? I always thought this will be another remake? Like Carpenter's version was a remake as well.
Who cares about the being a prequel or not. As long as is the Thing. The Thing was one of those gross monster that you love. Don't get me wrong I love the original it will always have a place in my scary heart. I hope they do a decent job of it.
