Here are the main nominations for the 2010 Emmy Awards. I’ve bolded the nominations that relate to ThinkHero and commented below each category.
OUTSTANDING DRAMA
“Breaking Bad”
“Dexter”
“The Good Wife”
“Lost”
“Mad Men”
“True Blood”
I’m glad to see both LOST and True Blood up there, however I felt that neither series had their strongest seasons. LOST is only up there because it’s their final one (much like Return Of The King winning Best Picture while the other two previous films did not). I felt that Season 4 should have been nominated but guess they were waiting until it ended. I enjoyed season 2 of True Blood but it was iffy in some spots like the whole Mary Anne storyline and thought season 1 was much better. I actually haven’t seen the other shows but I hear that both Breaking Bad and Dexter are really good.
OUTSTANDING COMEDY
“Curb Your Enthusiasm”
“Glee”
“Modern Family”
“Nurse Jackie”
“The Office”
“30 Rock”
I’m a big fan of all of these shows except for Nurse Jackie, which I haven’t seen. Both Glee and Modern Family were great suprises to me in the fall season not expecting to like them so much. The Office has always been one of my favorites and it had some strong episodes throughout the season but wasn’t as consistent as other seasons. If I had to choose, I’d pick Curb Your Enthusiasm as it’s one of my favorite comedy shows of all time and last season with the Seinfeld Reunion was one of their best ever.
LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Jim Parsons – “Big Bang Theory”
Larry David – “Curb Your Enthusiasm”
Matthew Morrison – “Glee”
Tony Shalhoub – “Monk”
Steve Carell – “The Office”
Alec Baldwin – “30 Rock”
Steve Carell is always hilarious, same with Alec Baldwin. Jim Parsons as Sheldon in Big Bang Theory is what keeps me watching the show. Matthew Morrison on Glee, I’m not too sure about, not because I don’t like him but he seems to play more a dramatic role than a comedic one in the show. I haven’t seen Monk since season 6, so not sure how Tony Shalhoub is doing, though I do like him as an actor. Curb’s Larry David is consistently making me die from laughter so I would have to give it to him.
LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Bryan Cranston – “Breaking Bad”
Michael C. Hall – “Dexter”
Kyle Chandler - “Friday Night Lights”
Hugh Laurie – “House”
Matthew Fox – “Lost”
Jon Hamm – “Mad Men”
I haven’t seen any of these shows except for LOST and Friday Night Lights, which is one of the most underrated shows on television today. Kyle Chandler plays Coach Taylor perfectly and it woud be nice to see him get some recognition. Matthew Fox also does a great job on LOST and sometimes gets easily overlooked because of LOST’s large cast.
LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Lea Michele – “Glee”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus – “The New Adventures Of Old Christine”
Edie Falco – “Nurse Jackie”
Amy Poehler – “Parks And Recreation”
Tina Fey – “30 Rock”
Toni Collette – “United States Of Tara”
Having only seen Glee and 30 Rock, not sure who to give it to. Love Tina Fey and she’s consistently funny and Lea Michele has some great lines in Glee. My only concern is that Michele is playing to close a version to herself and perhaps the writing is what’s making her look good. The same could be said about Fey, however seeing her in other stuff besides 30 Rock, you can always count on her to be funny.
LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Kyra Sedgwick – “The Closer”
Glenn Close – “Damages”
Connie Britton – “Friday Night Lights”
Julianna Margulies – “The Good Wife”
Mariska Hargitay – “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”
January Jones – “Mad Men”
I’ve only seen Connie Britton in Friday Night Lights in this category and like Kyle Chandler does, Britton plays the principal/wife of Eric Taylor perfectly. I wish that they had shown some love to Anna Torv who plays Olivia in Fringe but alas sci fi is usually ignored.
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Chris Colfer – “Glee”
Neil Patrick Harris – “How I Met Your Mother”
Jesse Tyler Ferguson – “Modern Family”
Eric Stonestreet – “Modern Family”
Ty Burrell – “Modern Family”
Jon Cryer – “Two and a Half Men”
I’ve seen all these shows except for Two and a Half Men and all of the nominees are great. For me it’s a choice between Neil Patrick Harris and Ty Burrell with my vote going to Burrell. While NPH is great at playing Barney Stinson on HIMYM, the show itself has fallen off a bit since season 3 and Ty Burrell is one of the funniest things about Modern Family.
SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA
Aaron Paul – “Breaking Bad”
Martin Short – “Damages”
Terry O’Quinn – “Lost”
Michael Emerson – “Lost”
John Slattery – “Mad Men”
Andre Braugher – “Men of a Certain Age”
Only have seen LOST in this category and between the two, I felt that Terry O’ Quinn had a large part to play in this final season of LOST and it should go to him between the two. Emerson has already a few statues and his character took a back seat to the new Locke/Smoke Monster hybrid known as Flocke this season. One snub in this category is that of John Noble who palys Walter in Fringe. His performance of a man fluctuating back and forth between insanity, a kid like innocence and sometimes a nasty bitter man is amazing. He probably got overlooked because he’s on a sci fi show that isn’t as popular as LOST.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY
Jane Lynch – “Glee”
Julie Bowen – “Modern Family”
Sofia Vergara – “Modern Family”
Kristen Wiig – “Saturday Night Live”
Jane Krakowski – “30 Rock”
Holland Taylor – “Two and a Half Men”
I’ve seen all these shows except for Two and a Half Men and I love all the actresses. For me Kristen Wiig is on the best things about SNL these days and find both Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara pretty funny on Modern Family however it’s most likely going to go to Jane Lynch.
SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA
Sharon Gless – “Burn Notice”
Rose Byrne – “Damages”
Archie Panjabi – “The Good Wife”
Christine Baranski – “The Good Wife”
Christina Hendricks – “Mad Men”
Elisabeth Moss – “Mad Men”
Haven’t seen any of these shows, though I do love Christina Hendricks for her appearances on two episodes of Firefly back in 2002.

Any thoughts as to why John Lithgow was overlooked for Best Supporting Actor?
I do agree with you about John Noble. I really enjoyed the ending to the last season of Fringe and thought everyone did a terrific job playing another version of themselves.
Outstanding Drama:
I'm thinking Breaking Bad after that great season. Hate to say it but Dexter's best season comes a close second though.
Outstanding Comedy:
More than likely going to be Glee or 30 Rock.
Lead Actor in a Comedy
Jim Parsons is brilliant but Emmy's love Alec Baldwin.
Lead Actor in a Drama:
Have to give it to Michael C. Hall. He's well deserving even though we know as long as Bryan Cranston's Walter White has a breath in his lungs, it's going to be a coin flip between the two.
Lead Actress in a Comedy:
Edie Falco stepped up her Jackie but Toni Collette's Tara wins yet again.
Lead Actress in a Drama:
This is one of two categories I know nothing about only because I don't watch the nominated shows.
Supporting Actor in a Comedy:
Neil Patrick Harris should win this year even though there are some stand-outs in Chris Colfer from Glee and Ty Burrell from Modern Family.
Supporting Actor in a Drama:
Would absolutely love to see Aaron Paul win for this past season of Breaking Bad but for some reason I have a feeling Terry O'Quinn will win for Lost.
Supporting Actress in a Comedy:
Jane Lynch hands down for Glee.
Supporting Actress in a Drama:
The other category I know nothing about. Am really wondering when someone's going to notice Jennifer Carpenter though.
I've heard such great thingsabout Breaking Bad, I really need to watch it.
I think Glee will win for best comedy though I wish Curb would win, it's so hilarious.
Dennis
modern family for best comedy (though i think HIMYM deserves it more.)
Both Coach and Mrs Coach for best Actor/ess in a Drama
NPH for best supporting actor in a comedy.
Love Modern Family, I think it's an uphill battle against Glee and 30 Rock.
Would love to see both Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton win for FNL.

So, we have completely different taste and still love ThinkHero interesting. Glee is the corniest (that is a word? If not Glee invented it) show ever so, check that out. OK -here we go- saying that TB’s Maryann story was a drag is like repeating mId-wife complaints; how many times someone has put a manead as Villain? None so that was truly original,Awesome and unexpected. Michelle Forbes needs a recognition she made it so believable besides she deserve for all here career specially in the genre. And she was the Queen of paganism in TV. Love TB S1 and S2 original well
written, perfectly edited and Anna P and Michelle F showdown was awesome. To finish the encounter between the manead and the Bull-God was one of the most strangely sad and beautiful moment on TV history.
That's cool that we have differing opinions, though I still stand by my opinion of True Blood Season 2. I'm actually a fan of Michelle Forbes, I liked her in BSG and saw her a long time ago in a indie movie called Swimming With Sharks.

I know some typos, posting my thoughts on TB by a BB is not that much fun.
three words….. watch breaking bad
I ordered the first two seasons, just waiting for it to get here and I'm going to have a Breaking Bad marathon!
