Yahoo has just released the first official image of Chris Hemsworth in character as Thor. Looks good, but it also kinda looks like…Sam Worthington. In case you have no idea who Hemsworth is, he was the father of one James Tiberius Kirk in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek reboot. He also starred in Perfect Getaway opposite Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich.
Thor isn’t a franchise I’m very familiar with beyond the basic facts, but the one thing that peaked my interest above all other factors was the inclusion of Kenneth Branagh. If anyone is going to bring verisimilitude to the story of a fallen God, it’s Branagh. That’s also a huge sign that Marvel Studios is taking this franchise seriously. Robert Downey Jr. told MTV in a recent interview that “…between the casting and Branagh at the helm, I particularly feel that ‘Thor’ is on a really solid page right now.”
Hopefully we’ll see a bit more of Asgard this year at Comic-Con, but the film isn’t set to bow until Summer 2011.

I love how his costume doesn't look too modern or practical. <3 I love how it still looks comic booky. I honestly can't stop looking at the little bit of details we're shown here. The cape, sleeve, chest plate.. It really does look like armor as opposed to tights. Love love love.. <3
Missing the helmet, but, I'm sure they just wanted a good shot of Chris Hemsworth. He really does make a kick-ass Thor. <3

They Should have used Triple H instead of Chris. Not saying Chris is not a good choice. But Triple H is built like a god so why not use him for the role.
