Looks like all the constant rumors of who will be playing Captain America in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie can now be laid to rest. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Evans has accepted the role offered by Marvel at the end of last week. While contract details are still being finalized, it looks like we have our Captain America.
There has been much speculation these past few weeks with Chris Pine, Ryan Phillipe, Jenson Ackles, Scott Porter and other names being tossed around.

I think he can pull it off!
I think he's a better choice than some of the other actors who were rumored to be under consideration for the role. He'll need to buff up, but pretty much any actor they chose would've had to do the same thing. I'm a bit surprised they selected him, given that he has already played Johnny Storm/Human Torch in the Fantastic 4 movies. I thought the producers were aiming for an actor who had never played a superhero in any other films. But, at least they chose an American actor. I was getting worried they were going to cast a Canadian to play Captain America.
Yeah they seemed to back off the whole "unknown" actor that they said beforehand. Some of the people on the short list were semi-unknowns but Chris Pine, Chris Evans, John Krasanski, and Ryan Phillipe aren't really unknown.

I still think Jensen Ackles would've been better, but Chris Evans should be a good second choice and he's been exposed to the comic book world so knows what t expect.
I agree. I was absolutely routing for Jensen Ackles, because when I think about I think "All-American." I think Evans is a good choice. He's got the personality and charisma to pull it off. However, Joe Johnston is gonna have to step up in a big way. And don't get me started on Hugo Weaving.
I was worried they would cast someone so out of left field that I just couldn’t get behind it. I actually like Chris Evans though and am sincerely greatful the whole casting mess is done with. It was starting to get all Scarlett O’Hara and Gone With the Wind in here. Now I just have to wait another year or two to get my Cap fix.
I'm happy with this. And this coming from a huuuge Captain America junkie. <3
It's weird though, they talked about wanting to cast an unknown for a long time. xD Then.. Chris Evans. He wasn't even part of the 'top six'.
But whatever, whenever roles offers are offered, they're usually perfect for the character. Like Ryan Renolds as Deadpool. And Josh Holloway as Gambit. (Even though Holloway turned it down. ._. I still haven't gotten over how amazing he would have been.)
So, bottom line.. people who have concerns.. :3 Marvel's good with this kind of stuff. I, for one, totally trust them. Until they really make a really bad choice.. xD I'm happy with whatever they choose.
I was hoping for Scott Porter (from Friday Night Lights and Caprica) who most people don't know as Captain America, but I'm okay with Chris Evans, as I liked him in Sunshine and Push.
