Check out me and Roth’s review of the winter finale episode of Fringe “Jacksonville”. It was a welcome return to the main storyline and further develops the relationships between Olivia and Walter and Olivia and Peter. Let us know what you thought of the episode and the consequences for future episodes.

April 1rst!?!? I have to wait 7 weeks for a new episode?
I loved this episode. Besides the fact they returned to the ‘main’ story, it was just really well done on almost every level. Sure the science was pretty hinky but its Fringe so that is a given. The creepy reached a whole new level and it was good to see Astrid admit that some things were just too much even for her. Huge question that needs answering: what is the agenda of the alternate guys? After all, Roth you are right, nobody want this, do they? Another big science issue I’d like to see them address : two is an impossible number. I’m presuming that they are smart enough to mean the two universes that are connected by Walter’s door whenever they speak of the two universes as if there are only two. They should acknowledge that there have to be an infinite number of universes.
Yes there must be an infinite number of universes – I wonder why that has not come up – perhaps because they are concerned with these two that are now inappropriately connected…
I think it was William Bell who got brought over to that Universe to replace Peter- that is why he is there…
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Roth
I don't think William Bell was brought over in place of Peter because in this episode, they stated that the two objects has to be of similar mass. So since Peter was taken when he was a young boy, that would have to mean that William Bell was brought over as a boy. I'm guessing that because William Bell and Walter did experiments on little kids, it could have been one of the kids they were experimenting on that replaced Peter.
BTW Roth, Tarzan says "hello"!!!
Yes you are right! I had forgotten about that
!
And please tell Tarzan I say helllloooo
and I am looking forward to seeing what his latest tee shirt say's!
Thanks!
Roth
His new shirt says "Chick Magnet" and it has a picture of a baby chicken (chick)!!
That – is amazing
Please send a picture
!!!
Also I wonder what happened when Peter was taken, that means someone from our universe must have gotten transported to the alternate universe. I wonder if the villain is the person who got involuntarily brought over?

My biggest problem with this episode is the seemingly sudden romantic relationship between Olivia and Peter. I know the writers have been trying to set this up but it seemed sudden anyway because they just don’t have any sexual chemistry. Maybe it’s just me but I just don’t see it.
I don't really see that sexual chemistry either, I see more of a brother and sister type chemistry between the two.
Dennis
It's funny – but I feel like they have been building towards this since day one between the two of them…
I think they have nice chemistry but I don't think I'll know if I think it translates to the sexual until they kiss – we will see if there is an ich factor…
Thanks!
Roth
I totally agree with Roth, I've seen the tension between the two since just about the first episode. I was beginning to wonder if the sparks were ever going to start flying and I'm really interested if Olivia's "crush" will remain now that she knows Peter is from the otherside.
I hope so. I think that will make it more interesting
Roth
I agree. I feel like they've been building a romantic tension between the two for a while now. I've never felt like it's brother-sister chemistry. But I guess that's just part of the ambiguity of relationships!
Nah, I didn't see it as being "sudden". The relationship has been building up for quite some time, it had just been hovering under the radar all of season one – Olivia was getting over John; Peter was dealing with Walter and building that relationship – until season two, when I think Olivia's stay at the hospital brought out the realization of certain feelings they may have for each other…especially on Peter's end. Even then, it took some time for Olivia to even begin to think about opening up like that again. In this ep, she finally hit a wall and didn't know what to do. She finally let her guard down and became afraid.
I think that line "Peter, I'm scared" might have dual meaning. One, obviously she's scared of failure – of letting a lot of people disappear/die when she's the only person who has the ability to save them (an ability she didn't know how to access or trigger). And two, she's scared of opening herself up emotionally, which is a little funny considering that's what was necessary to trigger her ability. I think if it wasn't for this ep being about that, the "almost kiss" would've seemed a bit out of place. For me, it fit nicely. And THAT'S why the ending had so much power to it, as well. Here Olivia is, letting her hair down, getting ready to FINALLY open up again and BAM! Peter's "glimmering". I bet that felt like another betrayal from Walter, and Anna Torv played that reaction so well.
Yeah she really did! I am always so impressed with her talent!
thanks!
Roth
I don’t think Peter and Bell could have been the two people in the swap. Peter was a little boy at the time, and they said it had to be equal mass. I loved Olivia’s reaction to finally finding out Peter’s true identity.
This episode was really great and I enjoyed the review. Too bad it will be so long until we see more.
Right on the weight! yes looking forward to the return as well!
thanks!
Roth
Truly enjoyed this episode. I thought the whole "test" was very creepy, something about the episode really just hit my "creepy" nerve or something.
I just pray in April they come back with more of this story. Monster of the Week is great here and there as filler, but it gets way old and they really pushed the limits on that this season.
Yes i hope so too! It is a really good story line if they will just stick with it.
Thanks!
Roth
Cool idea that Broyles has been trying to elicit Olivia's abilities all along, and that's why he chose her for the Fringe team. I remember John way back in the first episode right before he died telling Olivia to ask herself why Broyles had chosen her for the team. Seems we might be getting closer to an answer to that question!
I hope so I hope they are going to focus more on a continuous storyline when the series returns
Thanks!
Roth
I loved this episode because of the return to the main storyline and was completely bummed to see that it was the start of the winter hiatus.
I did a double take about Olivia being a fire-starter? Had to rewind and watch again, did anyone else almost miss this?
I agree with your review of Anna Torv's acting at the end of the episode – she was perfect when she saw Peter shimmer and really think this Olivia versus Walter is going to be interesting towards the end of the season. Also, the last three episodes have foreshadowed this episode pretty well with Walter's comments about Peter. Can't wait to see the backstory of how he went to the alternate universe and what the repercussions where.
Yes I am always so impressed with her acting ability! I hope they are going to stick with the main storyline as well.
It is a strong one!
Thanks!

Just finished watching Jacksonville and loved every second of the episode. I had to read every comment here because I had to know what others thought. I agree with just about everything said including Anna Torv's acting. One thing I noticed that i guess no one else did was the combination for the lock in Jacksonville. It read 05-20-10.
It's obviously a date, a date which lands on a Thursday as well. I'm thinking this will be the season finale and something major will happen in this episode. Could it be the two worlds colliding or something completely different? Of course one of the observers told Bell or Walter this date in order to remember something happening in the future.
Yeah I totally missed the date thing until someone else on Twitter had pointed it out to me. Should be a very interesting season finale for Fringe, if they are putting that much emphasis on it.
It's interesting that now LOST and Fringe have two universes/timelines that may be colliding.
