I'm with Brian on the "tattoed villains". Even though I don't know much about Tattoed Man, I thnk it would be very hard to come across as cool and the general audience probably wouldn't buy it as easily as anoher villain.

Yeah, I just read something to that effect over at HitFix. And looks like I was right about how they will handle Sinestro for this film and that will before he turns all sinister yellow and stuff. As for the two examples of tattoed villains you mentioned…they never really were much more than plot device characters.

Green Lantern doesn't really have what you would call a kick-ass rogue's gallery outside of Sinestro, Dr. Polaris and Star Sapphire (they definitely cant make her the villain right away).

After Heroes and Elektra, I think people are over tattooed villains. I believe Sinestro is in the film, though.

Unless Sinestro is made to start off as Hal Jordan's mentor in this intro film for the franchise then I'm not too thrilled about this choice of villain. While Hammond's abilities is comparable to Green Lanterns to a certain degree they could've picked much better enemies for this film if Sinestro was to be saved for later.

Manhunters – robotic race built prior to the Lantern Corps would've made for a nice group of villains with goal to destroy Earth or some such.

Tattoed Man – not as well-known but visually and ability-wise he'd work on the big-screen.
