Looks like the next installment in the Oz franchise Dorothy of Oz is coming in 2011 and is starring DanAkroyd as the Scarecrow, Kelsey Grammer as the Tin Man, and James Belushi as the voice of the Cowardly Lion.  The movie will be family oriented unlike Todd Mcfarlane’s push for the Twisted Land of Oz movie based on his figures. Dorothy of Oz is based on the book by Roger S. Baum, great grandson of L. Frank Baum the original creator of The Wizard of Oz.  The story is about how Glinda the Good Witch calls Dorothy back to Oz to help the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion who are in trouble.

After seeing Wicked the musical, I’m interested in seeing what other takes on the Oz franchise are out there, and also wonder what this does for the development of the Wicked movie which was supposed to come out this year but has been pushed back to 2012 and possibly further.
