In the “It looks so bad, it might be good” category, this trailer for the remake of the classic Karate Kid makes it look like it’s destined to be another in a long line of remakes that probably will make a lot of money, thus driving more remakes and sequels.
What do you think?

I really don't mind remakes, so long as they are done somewhat tastefully and with a bit of class, which is unfortunately hardly ever done. This one diverges from the original story enough that it may be able to stand alone as the feel-good family film that I think it was meant to be. I'm hesitant to say it, but I'm actually looking forward to this one.

I wouldn't mind seeing this on DVD for curiousity sake, but I don't know if I can bring myself to go see it in the theatre.
I do like Jackie Chan but most of that is based on his Hong Kong films.

I'm with you Dennis, DVD watch. Why did this need to me remade again?

Sadly, for the money, money, money.
I'm all for making money but you can make money while still making something entertaining and worthwile.

I don't see anything here that makes me think they'll do the original justice. Also . . .
Why are they calling this on the "Karate" Kid when they're obviously practicing Kung Fu? Shouldn't it be the Kung Fu Kid?

Yeah, its definitely Kungfu they're practicing. Originally they were going to call it Kungfu Kid, but decided against it because they knew the name recognition wouldn't be the same, thus less $$$.

If the line "Get him a body bag!" is in it, then I'm sold.

This is one of those movies I would scoff at if someone were explaining it to me on the street. However, when Jackie Chan shows up as an older/wiser man I think I can buy it. Look, the fact that this remake has nothing to do with the original and is geared toward a younger audience will help it. Just a small example; I asked my preteen son the other day what he thought about Caddyshack, and after a few seconds of dumbfounded confusion he asked "What's Caddyshack. *Slap to the forehead* And to think these kids will run the world some day.

You knew once that music started into the 1:00 minute mark that the movie was gonna suck.

I have an undying hate for "Caddyshack" mostly because of the fact it was one of the things that we adapted into a half hour play for my highschool. Very sloppy performance, I think.
