Yes unfortunately Dushku doesn't have it in terms of selling a "bad ass" Echo. It seems too to forced and ends up being cringe worthy.

And "Stop Loss" was pretty bad, probably up there with the one where she was blind and went to the cult.

While I was watching “The Attic” I was thinking getting sent to the attic is the new jumping the shark. In the end, I liked “the Attic’ better than many other episodes but it was no where near top on my list. The actors who play Victor (Enver Gjokaj) and Sierra (Dichen Lachman) are really excellent so it was really a shame they were so wasted in “Stop Loss”. That was probably the lamest episode ever. I like the concept that Echo has become her own person separate from Caroline but unfortunately Eliza Dushku just doesn’t have the acting chops to pull it off. Topher a doll? Say is isn’t so! I hope you are wrong on that one. It was a cleaver twist for Dr. Saunders/ Whiskey but not Topher. I also don’t mind the Ballard twist because they had just introduced the concept of the altered personality with the Senator.

caroline starts as an inocent activist girl who discovers some secrets from the rossum corporation but from that moment there is a 2 years gap till she became a doll.
this is expresed in the first scene from the first episode in wich adelle tells her "ou and i have been doing this dance for almost two years".
and one of the last scenes from the episode "echos" show us how caroline escapes from the hospital right after her boyfriend dies.

  4. emme Says:

and judging by how stressed caroline looks when she is on her way to become a doll u can say that she is not that inocent anymore….
plis i love guys but if you re going to review this show… pay attention*

I liked Stop-Loss. There were some good Adelle moments there. The Attic was probably my favorite episode so far in the series.

    Hi Emme!

That;s fair – honestly it does get difficult sometimes to track all the details of every show we cover so I appreciate when people point out stuff I may have missed. Yes, that all makes sense. Still, I guess I'd always rather have the lead -or any character – be a fully realized human being with vulnerabilities and all than a Chuck Norris impersonator. My problem was really with some of the dialog they gave echo that rang of that to me. Again I appreciate your comments and reminding us of that scene – I do remember that!!!

    Thanks Again!

    Hey Adam!

Yes, there were some great Adelle moments in both eps – like what they have done with her character. I also really liked The Attic!

    Thanks for your comments!

    Hey Elizabeth!!!

Good to hear from you! I'm pretty much with ya on all you're sayin' :D

I actually liked most of the season one eps – the one offs less than all of season two – so this just seemed liked it slipped back into some of that.

Hope you are doing great and enjoying your holidays!!!

    All The Best!

I too liked what they tried to do in Season One of Dollhouse, have the early episodes a bit more one-off so that they could try and build and audience, however, I do think they could have done a bit better. Definitly more connections that the audience from previous episodes could pick up on but aren't necessary to get the weeks plot point. And more than just a mention of Alpha slide into the last few minutes.

  10. emme Says:

I know, i really understand, im very sorry if my last comment came out a little strong. i love this show so much and im kind of sensitive about it, and i love your reviews so much i ve been waiting them for so long.
i hope they can achieve a great series finale. they have a lot of things to explain and show us and so little time to do it properly that its probable that we have a few more of that actitude.
    very mad at fox*

  11. rothcornet Says:

It's cool – I understand. They have managed to derail almost every good sci-fi/fantasy show they get – I just don't know why they continue to pursue them…

We open the dialogue with the reviews and welcome them so it's totally great when people engage with us – we love it!

It gets hard sometimes if people make personal attacks on us – but I try not to take that personally/to heart.

Really glad you've enjoyed the reviews and really good to hear from you!

    Thanks!

    Roth

  12. rothcornet Says:

Yeah – it's too bad that they are now forced into the position of speeding their way to a conclusion for the show – just as it was really reaching it's full potential!

Thanks for posting – good to hear from you!

The processor part was one of the only parts of the episodes that made any sense to me at all. Basically everyone's "nightmare" was basically an analogy based on what part of the processing they were supposed to be doing. Clyde/Arkane explained it as thus: His priority in the processing was to figure the statistical outcomes of where their ECC technology would take them. Only 3% of the outcomes didn't involve the end of civilization.

Echo's processing was actually much like the legless man; she was processing escapes from the attic, much like he was supposed to find weaknesses in the mainframe.

Now I admit they did deviate from Victor and Sierra's nightmares, or rather, they didn't bother to explain the context.

As to where did all the "processors" come from, well, easily most of who ever is behind Rossum's enemies as well as they have already proven themselves evil so I'm sure a little body snatching, once they proved it would work on the original Clyde, wouldn't be out of order.

Overall I am glad that Dollhouse is coming to an end. I honestly think Wheddon and his writers sort of painted themselves into corners and so they sort of had to give Echo the all powerful powerfulness. ;) To me it really stands out in these last 4 – 5 episodes. It really feels like it has just gone off course and become this ridiculous plot over a plot over a conspiracy over a who the hell knows what.

Oh, and on that note, can someone please explain to me why we have had to endure episodes of this whole Dewitt charade of being turbo bitch who is actually doing her part to destroy the evil mega corporation? The last 2 minutes of the Attic were the worst for me because it just seemed so completely unnecessary.

    ::gets off the soap box::

Thanks for the review guys. :)
