If you’ve been paying attention the past few years, we’ve seen a wealth of new talent come into Hollywood with defiantly original voices. Edgar Wright created the amazing UK show Spaced before directing one of the best zombie films I’ve ever seen, then followed it up with an often brutally hilarious deconstruction of the buddy cop genre. Next, Wright has his sights set on comic books. He’s currently in post on his adaptation Bryan Lee O’Malley’s, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), bass guitarist for the garage band Sex Bob-omb, has just met the girl of his dreams. However, he must defeat Ramona V. Flowers’ (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) seven “evil exes”, who are coming to kill him. The film has one of the coolest teen casts, far better than the WB casts I was used to as a teenager. There are a ton of behind the scenes shots over at Edgar Wright’s site which show just how much fun everyone’s having, but this is the first real shot of the cast. Most of them, anyway as Wright’s keeping everything close to his vest. The film is supposed to contain animated fight sequences as well as live-action, but everything Wright does is exciting so I honestly can’t wait.
