The beautiful Sigourney Weaver is currently in press rounds for Avatar, and may have let a little bit of Ghostbusters 3 news. When asked about Bill Murray’s involvement as Peter Venkman, she whispered “He might be playing a ghost!” While everyone seems to be taking this rumor as is and running with it, I don’t think the writers would do something so crass as to kill the most beloved character off-screen.
More believable is that Weaver’s son from the sequel, Oscar, will be one of the new Ghostbusters. Weaver says she’s been asked to read a script, and that she’s definitely up for it but that it would more than likely be a smaller role. I’m definitely in favor of that as Oscar was a huge plot point in the second film. I wouldn’t mind the Venkman as a ghost plot either as long as it’s done well. However, the script is being written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky who wrote this year’s Year One. Go where you want with that. If they’re gonna do this right, I’d really like to see Annie Potts and Rick Moranis with kids. And of course, and old Slimer.
Hey, whatever happened to Rick Moranis?
