Bloody-Disgusting got hold of an interview with the original novelist and screenwriter, author William Peter Blatty, and he revealed news of a potential Exorcist revival. When asked if he’d change anything in the original film, he replied; “I would love to have been able to include the subplot involving Karl and his daughter Elvira which I did in my first draft, but that script ran to 172 pages. But I might have it my way in the near future, inasmuch as I’ve written an Exorcist miniseries script that not only faithfully includes all the main elements of the novel, but also some rather spooky new material and scenes, as well as a totally new (and perhaps much more satisfying) ending. I’ve also updated it. Billy Friedkin has agreed to direct.” William Friedkin directed the original film.

Numerous people died making the original Exorcist, so why anyone would even attempt this is beyond me. The Exorcist is one the scariest damn movies ever created. I’m serious. I refuse to watch it with the lights off, and even with the lights on there are nights where I just won’t do it. It’s that disturbing. To add to my fear, I went to middle school two blocks from where The Exorcist house sat. I’ve walked those stairs from the film’s unforgettable climax dozens of times, and they are every bit as spooky, jagged, and dangerous as they look. Would you like to see a new Exorcist miniseries from the creators?
