‘Caprica’ Poster Debuts (PIC)

Here’s a look at poster art for SyFy’s upcoming Battlestar Galactica prequel series, Caprica. I’m not really sure what to think of this other than Alessandra Torresani looks extremely sexy. Apparently a lot of thought went into this picture, discussion of the parallels between the first Cylon and Eve, the first woman. Um, okay. Whatever you wanna do, SYFY. I think I’d enjoy this poster more if it hinted (at all!) to the science fiction aspect of the show. Here you have the first Cylon ever created and there’s absolutely nothing on this poster to show you that.
The series will premiere with a two-hour pilot that is already available as a standalone DVD, which shockingly enough wasn’t that bad but also contains a bit of nudity. Why? I dunno. Eight additional hours of “Caprica” will air through March. Then the show will take a break and the remaining nine hours of “Caprica’s” first season will air some time in the second half of 2010.
The show is being masterminded by Jane Espenson of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame. I actually took the time to look through all the Buffy episodes she’s written and realized I liked maybe three of them. Her current arc in the Buffy comics is boring me to near paralysis and, the less we say about her Battlestar Galactica episodes or BSG: The Plan the better.

The poster is sexy and creepy to me at the same time. I haven't seen Caprica DVD yet but I heard good things about it (pre-Jane Espenson showrunning). You also forgot some of the atrocious BSG episodes she was responsible for.

I figured there was enough Espenson bashing in this post already, but I'm always up for more! The Caprica pilot is serviceable, but not much more than that. Even for a two hour pilot. You can watch it and enjoy it, but I don't think you'll be dying to watch the show after you see it.

Is it me, or does Alessandra Torresani look like Elizabeth Taylor?

I thinkthe poster hints quite well at the sci fi aspect of things. She is the AI, the being of the Cylons. The apple is what gives the rest away. You think they chose to only show something red on the poster for nothing?
Not only is there allusion to Eve and the sin and downfall of man (I'm kind of tired of Christianity worming its way into sci fi stuff), but an allusion to the Cylon Centurions, with their roving red eye.
