Robert Zemeckis is set to produce Airman for Disney and Zemeckis’ own ImageMovers. Based on a book by Eoin Colfer, the $150 million performance capture film will center on Connor, who lives on an island off the coast of Ireland where his father is the king’s bodyguard. When the king is murdered, Connor is blamed for the crime and thrown into prison where he passes the solitary months designing a flying machine that he will use to save his family. Ann Peacock (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe) is penning the script with Gil Kenan (City Of Ember, Monster House) set to direct.

Kenan has been set to direct for some time now, which is actually exciting to me because I flat out love Monster House. It’s the best performance capture film Zemeckis has done, mostly because he didn’t direct it. There’s just something dead about Zemeckis’ animation style and the stories are extremely lackluster, and usually just make me wonder why he didn’t shoot them live-action? What do you think?
