Kirsten Prout (Kyle XY, Elektra) is joining the cast of Twilight Saga: Eclipse as Southern vampire Lucy, one of the sisters of Maria (Catalina Sandino Moreno) who turned Jasper Hale (Jackson Rathbone) into a vampire.

I’m just gonna say it: I actually didn’t mind the first Twilight film. Yes it’s sappy, and their vampires sparkle in the sun, and the film is aimed directly at thirteen year-old panties but it wasn’t THAT bad. New Moon, which looks more like a Native American Calvin Klein-ad, has a lot going for it. There’s a top-notch cast, a competent director in Chris Weitz, and the gorgeous music of Alexandre Desplat. I can even disregard how shitty the werewolves look, but somehow I just can’t force myself to get excited about any of these movies when I know that 3/4 of my theater-going experience would be high velocity tween frequencies.

i actually like this chick. she was good in elektra, and i liked her in kyle xy as well. even though i read the twilight books, the character lucy brings up nada lol and i agree about your opinion on the first one…pretty much how i feel about it. liked it, can sit here and rip it apart, but hey….it wasnt that bad =]

i think the werewolves don't look terrible…granted ive only seen one trailer and they are on it for all of 5 seconds.

new moon feels like its going to be a bit more action packed…which will be a nice change in direction.

I never saw Elektra or Kyle XY, though I've heard not so good things about Elecktra. How was Kyle XY?

I similarly to Brian didn't mind the first Twilight (wasn't great, but wasn't horrible).

I've seen a few episodes of Kyle XY. It's not the greatest show ever, but it does tap that feeling of old 90s Nickelodeon Secret World Of Alex Mack-ish type stuff well. Elektra sucks on so many levels (hey Dennis, there's even a guy whose tattoos come to life!), but I do remember liking her. Didn't actually remember it was her til I typed up this article.

CGI animals are really iffy for me, and the moment I saw that werewolf I was like "No thank you." They could totally fix all of that before the film premieres, but for some reason animated Pixar animals move more realistically than any CG animal I've ever seen.

I don't know about Kyle XY or Electra, but Jessica's right – Lucy really doesn't do much. Good for Prout that she's in the cast, though.

It's really hard to do a good werewolf. I haven't seen anything yet in cinema that measures up. Do they look more like wolves or humans? Are they bi- or quadrupeds? So many logistical problems that I think our imagination is doomed to always be disappointed when we see them on-screen, whether they use CGI or makeup/puppetry (Underworld).

*SPOILER* But technically, these are not werewolves. They call themselves that because they don't know any better, but actually they're shape-shifters. So they really do turn into wolves, not hybrids. They're not Lycans.

I reserve judgment for when I see the film. I'm not going to say anything based on what's in the trailer.
