Joss Whedon’s ‘Cabin In The Woods’ Delayed

Cabin In The Woods was set to be released in February 2010, co-written by Joss Whedon and directed by Buffy/Lost vet Drew Goddard. Apparently test screenings have been scoring through the roof so MGM Studios is converting the film to 3D. Okay, that’s kind of awesome. I’ve read the screenplay and I’m not as opposed to 3D for this, especially after that game-changer of an third-act. However, 3D conversion takes a bit of time and so the film has gotten pushed back an entire year to January 14, 2010 which really really sucks lots and lots of ass. Honestly, the world needs more horror films like this and the just-released, insta-classic Trick ‘R Treat, not more Saw movies.
Here’s a few posters for the film that debuted at this year’s Comic-Con. While their taglines riff on common horror movie cliché, I can tell you that those clichés are actually vital to the story. I love Joss but, negating all obsessive idolatry and coming from it as a fan of horror, I think it’s a wicked twist on the genre.

I'm looking forward to this, not really into 3D (its cool, but not quite there yet). So I was hoping it would come out this February, but now another year? Well I guess I have to wait now.
