Halloween 3D Postponed

Coming off the brutally panned Halloween II, Dimension Film went ahead and announced a follow-up almost immediately. Director Patrick Lussier, who’s been editing and directing DTV films for the Weinstein’s for years (and helmed last year’s My Bloody Valentine), was signed on to helm the feature. Now we’ve gotten word that the Weinstein Brothers are putting the film on the backburner.
The first draft of a possible third installment was handed in and the Weinstein Company jumped on it with the announcement of a November filming start, following with a Summer 2010 release. Patrick Lussier is currently set to start a project for Avi Lerner that won’t finish shooting until January. There are still rumors that TWC is out of money amid all their layoffs, that they couldn’t agree on a $25M budget battle with Lussier. On ther other hand, sources state that Bob Weinstein halted production because he felt it was rushing too fast. Dimension now plans to start the film after Lussier is free. Halloween II will be re-released this October 31st, which begs the question, why didn’t they just wait until Halloween to release it? It’s like free marketing.

After seeing the first Rob Zombie remake movie, I don't think I can ever see a Halloween movie again.
