Watch me and Roth discuss the premiere episode “Vows” of season 2 of Dollhouse. This episode was written and directed by creator Joss Whedon, which is probably why it was a strong episode with great dialogue and good character development that has been kind of missing from a lot of previous episodes.
Let us know what you think about this episode and our review, thanks!

I loved the Topher Wiskey stuff from this episode. I think the part where she talking about dieing was a very interesting and powerful concept. It reminded my of last season's episode where the rich mother came back to watch her funeral and find out who killed her. Though technically in Echo she wasn't real, she had formed an identity, and when the when they wiped that personality, it was like they were killing her all over again. And it was something i hadn't realized with any of the Doll's other personalities. So i really liked how this show touched on that again.
As for the main story, i really thought it was cool. I don't so much mind the engagement of the week as long as it furthers the development of Echo's character, which of course then one did in leaps and bounds. I'm looking forward to a season of Agent Ballard trying to keep Echo's awareness a secret.
And damnit, i just need to get off my ass and by season 1 so i can watch that Epitaph episode already. Damn fox for not Airing it.

I think Dr. Saunders wants her scars. They are her only real safeguard against DeWitt putting her back into service as a doll. I wonder whether Dr. Saunders has the "Would you like a treatment" compulsion, or if somehow her self awareness would effect that.
I am pretty bored with the Echo storyline. The Topher-Whisky interaction is interesting because we don't know how it is going to play out. After Epitaph One, we can pretty much intuit what is going to happen between Ballard, Echo and the Dollhouse.
A comment on Epitaph 1:
Whisky's presence in this episode is particularly heartwrenching when you realize what Dr. Saunders must have done. She knew waiting there alone, indefinitely would bring on insanity, but it was necessary for her to stay. I can picture her carefully choosing the white dress and getting meticulously ready for what was essentially going to be her death. Lying down in the chair, alone in the empty dollhouse and waking up Whisky. Who would have also been a sad sight, waking up a simple doll, alone, confused and in the dark – literally.

I thought this episode was even better than Epitaph One. Too bad Whiskey's gonna be on some shitty ABC show this year.

I think dialogue and character development wise it was a better episode, but I enjoyed the plot of Epitaph One much more..

Yeah Epitaph One is like being able to look into the future of Dollhouse, without ruining any suprises or plot developments that are coming up.

Interesting observation about Whisky's role in Epitaph One, I really didn't think about it.
Yeah, the Echo evolving storyline doesn't interest me as much as it should. I'm far more interested in the side characters and the developments going on with them and the Dollhouse in general.
