David Cronenberg Remaking His Own Remake of ‘The Fly’

Taking the whole remake/reboot thing a step further, David Cronenberg is planning on remaking his own remake of  The Fly.  He directed the 1986 version starring Jeff Goldblum, which is a classic sci fi film, was already a remake of the 1953 Kurt Neumann film.  I guess the big question is why?  Does he feel like there’s something he can do better? Is it the money? Has today’s special effects (like District 9) encouraged him to remake it with updated FX?

What do you think about the remake of the remake, by the same director?

This is pointless. I foresee it bombing big time at the BO. There is absolutely no reason for him to remake his own already perfectly fine CLASSIC sci-fi movie. That's like going back to high school b/c you think you can do it better the second time.

Cronenberg's version of The Fly is perfect. I don't see any reason for this whatsoever.
