Here is the first full trailer for Solomon Kane starring James Purefoy (Marc Antony in HBO’s Rome).  It looks like a hybrid between Van Helsing and Lord of The Rings.  Let’s hope it’s more of the latter than the former.  It actually looks better than I expected, lots of action and the fire beast thing at the very end looks prettuy cool.  The movie is scheduled to hit theaters in 2010.

Looks like it could be good.

I wonder who ripped who off? Author of Solomon Kane or Games Workshop? The entire imagery of this character is a near identical (99.999999% so) look-a-like to the game's Witch hunter. I would totally say google images "Warhammer Witch Hunter".

Imagery rip offs aside it looks like it could be very entertaining and hopefully better than Van Helsing.

I can answer you that. C.L. Werner who created the Mathias Thulmann Witch Hunter character admits to having been inspired by Robert E. Howard's 'Solomon Kane' character. He used both Solomon Kane and Vincent Price's 'Mathew Hopkins' from "Witchfinder General" for his character.

I will say that being a major fan and reader of the Solomon Kane tales that Purefoy has the look. The question I have now is whether the film overall really captures the character.
