Here’s a few more AVATAR pics that aren’t likely to change your mind on the whole photo-real argument, but still cool nonetheless. First up, another look at Sam Worthington’s Jake Sully Avatar, Sigourney Weaver’s Avatar, and a closeup of Zoe Saldana’s Neytiri. Keep in mind: everything about these images is completely CGI, minus the obvious exception. Forget about the character for a moment, and look at her head-dress.–I don’t know about you, but the detail in there looks pretty damn real to me. Look at the skin texture of the Na’vi, or the subtle but incredibly believable detail in Neytiri’s lips. While not photorealistic, the CG is still very impressive. I know lots of people are down on the trailer, but I guess because I saw the footage in 3D at Comic Con, I was already prepared. I'm imagining it will look pretty stunning in 3-D on a big screen like IMAX.
