In a BBC Radio interview, director Guillermo Del Toro confirmed the return of Ian McKellan, Hugo Weaving, and Andy Serkis to the return of the franchise for the prequel The Hobbit.
He also mentioned that they only have begun to work on creating Smaug, and only the basic framework has started.
In non-Lord Of The Rings news, Del Toro said both Blade 4 and Hellboy 3 were unlikely to happen, as Wesley Snipes is not on talkiing terms with New Line Cinema, and Ron Perlman doesn’t want to wear prosthetics anymore.
