Check out the first trailer for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio.  The movie is based on the book by Dennis Lehane, and also features Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and Jack Earle Haley.

The story is about a couple of U.S. Marshalls that come to investigate the disappearance of a patient from a criminally insane asylum.

I’m a huge Martin Scorsese fan, and will watch anything he does, however I’m not totally excited about this movie.  It looks like it could be creepy and interesting like The Shining or Session 9, or could be just another “horror” film.  I’m guessing since it’s Scorsese it will be the former.  For some reason I’m not too pumped to see it like I was for some of his most recent work like The Departed, Aviator, and Gangs of New York.

Hopefully Leonardo DiCaprio has some time after this to go work on Spawn with Todd McFarlane, hahahahaha

I think it's the genre, I bet after I see it, I'll think it's awesome. I thought Kundun was going to be boring, and it was fantastic. Scorsese doesn't disappoint.

I have the book right now but haven't read it yet. I really don't want to spoil anything before I finish the book so I'll stick with not watching this.

Unless he's doing costume dramas, anyway. I still haven't gotten all the way through "Age of Innocence"

That was fast, how was the book? Must have been good since you're already done with it.

Yeah the book's great. I would say it's one of the best books I've read in awhile. I haven't read too many great books in 2009, I've actually only read 6 books this year, but I'd put Shutter Island up there in the top 2.

I was reading quite a few chapters a night. The book's only 370 pages and at the beginning, I really wasn't into reading it, but after a few pages it picked up. I would have to say this is one of my fastest reads.

Everything in the trailer is in the book. Some movies are barely based on the book but from that trailer, it looks like a faithful adaptation. It kinda makes me think that the first trailer has a little something in there for the fans of the book.

I would suggest reading this if you find some spare time, if anything a weekend. Once the book gets going, you'll be flipping through the pages and done with the book in no time.
