The NY Post interviewed Spider-Man 4 producer, Todd Black, about upcoming details for the highly anticipated sequel. As for the rumors about Kirstin Dunst, who plays Mary Jane, leaving, turns out to be not true. Also the rumors about Morbius, the vampire, being the main villain for Spidey 4 was also revealed to be untrue.
Personally I think it’s a good thing that Morbius isn’t going to be the villain for Spidey 4, nothing against the character, but he wasn’t very well known, and feel that The Lizard or Kraven The Hunter would be better villains. However I’m against the idea of including more than one villain, which was one of my biggest problems with Spidey 3, which had 3 villains (Venom, Sandman, and Green Goblin 2).
I don’t really care much for Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, however, and was kind of hoping those rumors were true. I don’t think she represents the character like in the comic book, and find her and Peter Parker’s storyline increasingly more annoying.
What do you think about these new rumor killers?

I wish he would stop giving The Lizard the shaft. He's been in every movie!
Yeah, I think Lizard would be great for Spidey 4. Hopefully they don't add anymore unnecesary characters in the new movie. Still wish they would replace Dunst as Mary Jane or send her character away from a movie or two.
Dennis
Maybe they're trying to detour everyone away from the Lizard and kinda surprise us with the announcement whenever they decide to officially say who it will be.
Ew I can't stand Kirsten Dunst. Honestly, she's hard to look at and listen to lol. The Lizard HAS to be in the next movie because like fuelbot said, he's been in every movie! They could easily develop him some more and make him the next villain. He should kill Mary Jane… either that, or do a science experiment to make her attractive lol. I kept waiting for a movie to end with Dr. Connor (that's his name right?) to lose his arm or something. We'll see…
I agree with you about Dunst and The Lizard.
"science experiment to make her attractive" – that's funny!
I think in the movies, Dr. Curt Connors is already missing the arm. Hopefully the 4th movie will have him as the main villain and show him creating the formula that regrows his arm and turns him into The Lizard.
Dennis
He's been in the last two movies and he's already missing the arm. I think they could have both Lizard and Morbius in the next movie because they are actually both made the same way I think. Or i think that's how the cartoon did it back in the 90s. And after that, they had Kraven hunt them so if they go that route, they're going to have a few villains on their hands.
I'd rather them concentrate on one villain, as the last movie showed they can't handle multiple vilains and turned it into a giant mess. I'd rather they go Lizard only or Kraven only. Not really feeling Morbius.
Dennis
I can understand why someone would say that. I just think that in order to have Kraven, you would have to have someone else too. Actually you really wouldn't, Kraven could be hunting Spider-man but I always thought it would be cool to have him hunting Lizard and Spider-man stuck in there somewhere. I guess Kraven could work and we already know the Lizard can.
I want Carnage.
He's one of my favorites, since he was already a psycho path before he got any sort of powers.
But Lizard would of course make a great choice, but he did keep a sample vial of Venom from Peter. ;D
Maybe 2 Villains isn't a terrible idea.
And in Spiderman 2 you can see Connors arm is already missing, when he addresses Peters constant habit of being absent.
I wonder if they are saving Carnage to be the villain for the Venom spinoff movie. I'd rather see that than them pile villains on like they did in Spider-Man 3.
I wish Venom had been the main and only villain for Spidey 3, so they could have focused more on his character and his hatred for Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
Dennis
Carnage could work for the next film because they really didn't say Venom's dead and if done right, I think it would be awesome to have Venom back. I mean he does deserve something for being so terrible in part 3. It would also be cool if they saved him for the Venom movie but that's like the ultimate showdown and plus that's why Spider-man and Venom start working together.
I really wish that the news was for both to be in the next movie. I'm not a big fan of Dunst but she started the character and should be given the chance to reprise their role. Plus I hate when they recast for no reason. Morbius would be a good villain because he ties into Connor's Lizard, I mention this up top somewhere but it could work.
What do you think of the recast of Terence Howard for Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2?
Dennis
I really don't like it but I can see why they did it. I mean in a way, Cheadle is cheaper and I guess better to work with as opposed to Howard. With Dunst, it's more fans that aren't liking her than the actual crew of the movie.
.It's understandable – and I actually love Don Cheadle – but it's always sad to see someone lose a gig – especially such a good one. I hope he can rebound from this.
Not a Dunst fan myself – bu it would be crazy o replace her this far into the series.
Character overkill has been a problem in a lot of the comic book movies – keep it simple and clean I say – but hey one of my favorites in Unbreakable – so.
I like both of the actors and I thought it was perfect casting when they decided to go with Howard. He's always been a good actor and now was his time to have his own franchise action hero character with the possibility of multiple movies. I guess he didn't want it bad enough though. If I really loved a character, I would have taken a pay cut in order to get my own movie on down the line that would possibly pay whatever I wanted.
Oh and Unbreakable, thanks for reminding me about it. I was going to buy that movie a long time ago and forgot to. Plus I didn't want to spend $20 for it. Now it's under half that and I am the newest owner of the movie.
hmm yes right zzz
