News that Kirk Acevedo’s Facebook status popped up on pretty much every site two days ago stating, in all caps no less: “WELL BOYS AND GIRLS THEY DONE DID YER BOY WRONG! THEY FIRED ME OFF FRINGE, AND I’VE NEVER BEEN FIRED IN MY LIFE!!”

Jeff Pinkner, executive producer and head showrunner says, “like all things on Fringe, there is more to this story than meets the eye.” In fact Pinkner not only confirms to TV Guide that Acevedo “was not fired,” he hints that we’ll see more Agent Francis in season 2. Literally. “We’ve already seen two of him on the show,” teases Pinkner. “We’ve already met the second Charlie. He had a scar on his face.”

So then what the hell?! Why the angry emo kid Facebook status? It’s actually quite simple. According to Latina.Com, Acevedo’s option was not renewed, which is sort of like getting fired. I suspect Fringe, which hasn’t begun shooting season two yet (but is already airing clips from a season two episode — ODD), is in the midst of re-negotiations and such. And so it’s something they let slide to the last minute as they prep story ideas and arcs for season two.

OR this is Jeff Pinkner covering his ass. We’ll see. In my opinion…effing sweet. Kirk Acevedo’s awesome and Scar Charlie looks like something he can really get into and mess around with.
