Variety is reporting that execs at Universal, The Weinstein Company’s 50/50 partner on Inglourious Basterds, weren’t entirely pleased with the response to Quentin Tarantino’s premiere of his latest film at Cannes. They’ve asked him to make some changes before the film’s release in August.

A lot of people assumed that length might have been an issue as Tarantino films are known for running long, but this time around that doesn’t seem to be the case. At two hours 27 minutes, the film is still well under his contractual final cut length of two hours 48 minutes. Tarantino states that new edits may include adding a scene.

This is the first film made by Tarantino that wasn’t completely financed by Harvey Weinstein. The Weinstein Company entered into a joint production deal with Universal to help finance the film and distribute it internationally.
