First Look At Shyamalan’s “Airbender”

USA Today has premiered two photos from M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming adaptation of The Last Airbender.
In a world where the four elements (Fire, Earth, Water, and Air) can be controlled, the Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war to control the other great nations. The only hope for stopping the brutal Firebenders rests on the shoulders of a reluctant young boy named Aang (Noah Ringer). The last known survivor of the peaceful Air Nomads (Airbenders), Aang is also the “Avatar”, the physical incarnation of the world itself who possesses the ability to manipulate all four elements. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), Aang begins a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Standing in his way is the Prince Zuko (Dev Patel), the banished Prince of the Fire Nation, who seeks to capture the young Avatar in order to restore his honor.
I’ve never seen the cartoon, but I’m willing to give Shyamalan the benefit of the doubt. The Happening was a mess. I actually kind of liked Lady In The Water, or parts of it anyway. Sue me. Maybe stepping into a different kind of movie is what he needs to rekindle whatever spark he had when he started. Forgive me for saying, but this all looks a bit Dragonball Z-ish.
A trailer is expected with Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen via Frank Marshall’s twitter account.
