Sci Fi Wire is reporting that Star Trek director, JJ Abrams has been quoted at news conference in South Korea saying:

“We made this film not for Trekkies but for future fans of Star Trek,” Abrams told a news conference. “The studio wanted to give the film a fresh start, and I was originally brought in as a producer, but upon reading the script, I saw so much potential and possibility that the original had failed to realize due to technological constraints so I got very greedy and I decided to direct it myself.”

Currently all across the world, Trekkies have brought out their JJ Abrams Voodoo dolls and are stabbing it with a Bat’leth (Klingon Sword of Honor).

  1. Roth Says:

Yeah – that doesn’t seem like the smartest way to phrase that…

  2. Dacc Says:

Uhm.. Cue Angry Trekkie Mobs, much?

..I’ll just sit back and watch in amusement. (SO glad I’m not a Trekkie!)

  3. Dennis Says:

I’m not a Trekkie either, though I do really like TNG. If there are deviations from the original series mythos, I won’t be able to tell.

  4. Kort Says:

Trekkies will still go see it though, resistance would be futile.

  5. ThinkHero Says:

I'm sure they will. Then you'll have the JJ Abrams/LOST fans going to see it as well.
