Oscar Picks and Snubs 2009

After finally watching all 5 nominees here are my choices for the Oscars Winners.
Best Picture
Slumdog Millionaire
Though The Wrestler was my favorite movie of the year, I thought this movie was great as well.
Best Director
Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)
Love Danny Boyle’s work(Shallow Grave, Trainspotting), even in movies people don’t like (Sunshine), so hopefully he wins.
Best Actor
Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler)
Fantastic performance for what I thought was the best movie of the year. I also thought Frank Langella did a great job as Nixon in Frost/Nixon.
Best Actress
Kate Winslet (The Reader)
I didn’t see the other performances, so this one is purely based on the fact that this is the only one I saw.
Best Supporting Actor
Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)
No one thought anyone could top Jack Nicholson’s performance. If he doesn’t win, I think there will be riots in every comic book store in the country.
Best Supporting Actress
Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler)
She was very believable as an over the hill stripper. Yet she still has an amazing body. Didn’t see all the nominees, so I could be missing out on some good performances.
OSCAR BEST PIC SNUBS
I felt that the best movie of the year was The Wrestler and it didn’t even get nominated. Also I felt that Wall-E and The Dark Knight were passed over because of their genres. I easily can drop Curious Case of Benjamin Button out of the top pics. To me, it’s overrated and just like Atonement of last year, visually beautiful with no substance.
To me, Milk and moreso The Reader aren’t definite best pic nods for me. These could also be substituted out.
My best picture nominations in order would be:
1. The Wrestler
2. Slumdog Millionaire
3. Wall-E
4. Frost/Nixon
5. The Dark Knight
