Both io9.com and SlashFilm are reporting rumors of a Battlestar Galactica movie based, not on the recent critical and fan success BSG on Sci-Fi Channel, but on the original 1970′s series. Glen Larson, the original creator, is penning the screenplay and will produce.
I’ve only seen some of the old BSG when I was a kid, so I don’t remember too much. But I’m guessing the movie probably won’t be good (ala Lost In Space movie), and will ruin the franchise’s current good name.
What do you think of this rumor? Yeah or Nay?

I agree with both Fuelbot and Kaeos, it won't be any good unless it has the new series writers on it.
And Larson probably is trying to cash in, since the Sci-Fi Channel series is ending soon.
Yay. But only if Ron Moore writes it.
This is a ridiculous idea. The success of the current series happened because they stripped away some of the campy ridiculous 70′s mentality to the show. To make a movie based on the original series is nothing more than Larson trying to cash in on the current series success.
Is this one of those weird situations where the movie rights got separated from the TV rights???
Check out HULU — they’ve got a bunch of old Battlestar episodes… including GALACTICA 1980, which is awesomely ridiculous. Flying Viper cycles! Mr. Brady of the Brady Bunch playing a supersmart scientist! Brion James (Leon in BladeRunner) as a dumb-ass biker! Starbuck crashlanding a Viper on a wasteland planet! Galactica finding Earth and — hey, wait a minute!!!
